Adele’s secret

Someone doesn't know Adele?

If angels have voices, they surely sound like Adele. More than 10 years ago, a British singer and songwriter took over the world with her music.

Adele has always been a beautiful woman, but as you can imagine, the entertainment industry went HARD on her. A young girl with curves was something rare for the industry in 2008, especially after all those years of Hollywood’s unhealthy obsession with skinny figures.

Since 2008 to now, we have seen Adele grow apart from the criticisms and also becoming a symbol for curvy and plus-size women, as she seemed to never pay attention to the criticisms towards her body and focusing on her talent to maintain her career.

So, people started wondering how she did it. Between the congratulations and good comments, some people were wondering if she would open up about her process, and whether or not she did it for health rather than looks.

As you can imagine, this is a sensitive topic. Luckily, she recently explained everything about her journey and her motives behind it, also, she sent a very positive message towards women that saw her as an icon and the whole movement of body positivity.

No intermittent fasting. Nothing. If anything, I eat more than I used to because I work out so hard

Behind her weight loss is a well-structured fitness plan designed not only for her physical health, but also for her mental health.

If you didn’t know, Adele recently divorced from her partner and, in her own words, this triggered a lot of anxiety to the point where she experienced terrible panic and anxiety attacks.

Her routines were designed and supervised by trainer Greg Miele at Heart & Hustle gym in Los Angeles, focused on growing Adele’s mental and physical strength. They mainly consist of weightlifting and circuit training.

Something very important she mentioned is the fact that she never went under strict diets or dangerous procedures.

Her daily routine:

This schedule started during the first Covid quarantine, and she has maintained it as part of her daily routines.

People's reactions

About the negative comments, she added that even though she felt flattered that most plus-size women considered her as an example, she wanted to change her body for herself and focus on her own health.

She then added that, even with her transformation, she still feels very positively about her body, and that she has learned to accept it and ignore the mean comments after being under scrutiny for the last 12 years.

“it’s not my job to validate how people feel about their bodies. I feel bad that it’s made anyone feel horrible about themselves, but that’s not my job. I’m trying to sort my own life out. I can’t add another worry.”

What we can learn about Adele’s weight loss journey is to turn around bad situations and use them as fuel for big life changes. Also, losing weight doesn’t have to always be involved with vanity, focusing on getting healthier and stronger is way better than focusing on fitting society’s expectations. Finally, the best way to lose weight will always be having a balanced diet and complementing it with the exercises that fit you the best.
