According to a recent survey made by the site SportsShoes.com, the UAE city is the second city in the world where people take more selfies at the gym. The only city that has topped Dubai is Marbella, in Spain.
The survey took several data into account before releasing its results. After comparing the amount of gym-selfie-related Instagram hashtags and the population of the city, Marbella was announced as first on the list with an impressive amount of 9,000 hashtags used by its 134,000 people.
Dubai, the most “instagrammable” city in the world
Dubai, which has a much larger population (almost 3 million) has 198,000 hashtags related to pictures taken at the gym. Furthermore, the Asian continent data shows that the neighboring city, Abu Dhabi is the second one, closely followed by Jakarta, Singapore, and Bangkok.
This doesn’t come as a surprise, not only because Dubai is one of the most visited, most “instagrammable” cities in the world, but also because fitness and a healthy lifestyle have become a major part of the life and culture of the citizens.
After several years of government initiatives focused on promoting exercise and a healthy lifestyle in the population, Dubai has made several achievements that certify the city as one of the most physically active in the continent.
For example, the Emirate is the first territory in the Asian continent to be recognized as a “bike city”, something that makes it one of the most bike-friendly cities in the world.
With more than 9 million results when you google “Gyms in Dubai”, the Emirate is also one of the leading cities in terms of cutting-edge gym technologies. With luxurious sports clubs, enormous gym chains, and even famous fitness influencers, Instagram users now know that Dubai gyms are the second most popular gyms to snap their selfies on.
