Wadi Shawka

Great for: Beginners

Wadi Shawka is situated in the Hajar Mountains of Ras Al Khaimah, starting from the village of Khari, north of the village of Shawka, joining Wadi Esfai and Wadi Ejili. With Shawka dam and long stairs, it is safe for children and families and dog friendly too.

Hatta Mountain Trails

Great for: Family-fun hikes

The fun adventure center and Hatta Wadi Hub make it a popular spot for families and children. You can choose from Easy, Moderate, Difficult, and Severe trails to hike nearly 33 km, moving around wadis, dams, farms, and villages. And yes, you get the toilet facility.

Al Rabi Mountain Trail

Great for: A dip in Khorfakkan beach post-hike

Most popular due to its easiest hike in the UAE. You can enjoy the Hajjar mountains and other Khorfakkan landmarks within three hours at a moderate pace. The 6km track has a car park facility.

Ain Al Sheria

Great for: Intermediate hikers

The 8.8 km trail demands some prior experience. You find shelters and rest; still, you should carry more water than you think you need. Most of the path is in the open sun, and you require a 4 x 4 to access the route.

Jebel Jais

Jebel Jais is the tallest mountain in the UAE with two hiking areas. The tracks are well defined, making it difficult to lose your way. Jebel Jais is a hub for thrill-seekers. It also hosts the country’s highest restaurant, 1484 by Puro, named after its height above sea level.

Jebel Hafeet

Great for: Advanced hikers

The only mountainous region of the UAE. The Green Mubazzarah Park is the biggest attraction of Jebel Hafeet. Due to some loose rocks, the trail is not suitable for children or first-time comers.

Wadi Abadilah
